They say that a picture is worth a thousand words; well I have exactly 369 words for this picture. At last night’s November 27, 2018 Alief ISD School Board Meeting Martellus Bennett, who played tight end for the NFL, donated 10,000 to Alief ISD’s Mahanay Elementary. The Bennett Foundation also donated a semi-truck full of food items to Alief ISD which allowed the district to create over 400 food baskets for families. According to Dee Jones, Alief ISD’s Business and Community Partnership Coordinator, the Bennett family has been “continuously supporting Alief ISD for the past 4 years”. Martellus could not attend the board meeting in order to be recognized by the board so his father, Michael Bennett Sr. and mother accepted the recognition award on their son’s behalf. The situation got noticeably uncomfortable for Superintendent Henry David Chambers Jr. because Superintendent Chambers and the 2014 Alief School Board (Ann Williams, Rick Moreno, Sarah Winkler, Lily Truong, Nghi Ho, and Tiffany Thomas) filed a lawsuit against Michael Bennett Sr. in the Harris County Court House on September 19, 2014, case number 2014-53928, to try and kick Michael Bennett Sr. off of Alief’s School Board. Alief ISD’s organized crime unit led by Superintendent Chambers and Attorney Jon Erik Nichols went after Mr. Bennett personally because Bennett would not play their dirty school board games. For those not keeping up with the math, 2018 minus 4 years is 2014. This means that the Bennett family has been “continuously supporting Alief ISD” since the district tried to sue Michael Bennett Sr. I am not going to go into all the details of the lawsuit, you can look up the case yourself. My point is this, look how ACKWARD Henry David Chambers Jr. looks in this picture. The moral of this story is twofold. One, watch how you treat people, and two, Alief ISD belongs to us, the community, it DOES NOT belong to the board of Trustees, it does not belong to Henry David Chambers Jr, and it most certainly does not belong to Aliefs Organized Crime Unit. Stop wasting our tax money for your own personal agendas and resume building opportunities. Alief School Board elections are coming up in November of 2019. Make sure that you vote!
