Alief ISD knew Sunday night (September 30, 2018) that a Hastings High School student made a terroristic threat about shooting up the school on his social media page and the district allow the student to come to school the following day (Monday, October 01, 2018). The other students at this young mans bus stop were put in danger by the districts lack of actions, the bus driver and students riding on this young man’s bus were put in danger by the districts lack of actions, and all of the students at Hastings High School whom the student interacted with on Monday while he was at school, BEFORE ALIEF POLICE TOOK HIM INTO CUSTODY, were put in danger because of the districts lack of actions. Further complicating the problem, Superintendent Henry David Chambers Jr. never had Robo calls sent out to Alief parents nor did HD Chambers send a letter home to parents notifying them of the incident. Any other time Superintendent Chambers would be chomping at the bits to be on camera, chomping at the bits to be in a photo, or chomping at the bits to be on the news or the center of attention, but when real issues are going on with our kids and our community Superintendent HD Chambers goes into hiding so that he does not have to answer or address our community concerns. The young man that made the terroristic threats to shoot up the school was never arrested by Alief police. According to another Alief Hastings parent, the young man sat in SAC all day with other students and was sent home at the end of the school day. At 3:15pm that same Monday afternoon, the young man posted on his social media account, “I’m not allowed at any alief school or any alien [typo] bus.” So the young man was at home posting about his experience at school that day on social media before both of my own kids arrived home from Alief schools on Monday October 01, 2018.
