Do They Really Care?

For those who missed last nights Alief School Board Meeting the school board voted to approve a waiver allowing the district to increase the number of students that they can put in each classroom. Let me rephrase this properly, the THREE board members who are educators, two of whom are former Alief ISD educators, and one who is currently a Spring ISD educator, voted YES to the districts proposal of a classroom waiver to increase the number of students in teachers classrooms. The only board member who actually has children in Alief ISD schools voted NO to the waiver. The waiver passed with a vote of 6-1. If students, parents, educators, and community members were under the assumption that WE are equitably being represented by the Alief school board your assumptions could not be further from the truth. In the not so spiritual words of the late Michael Jackson, “All I want to say is that they don’t really care about us”. Alief school board elections are coming up in November of 2019. Make sure that you vote!
