When Will Enough Become Enough?

I am interested in receiving performance data that supports the 2.2 plus million dollars that has been paid to Superintendent Chambers since he took office in April of 2011. My concern is this, during the 2012 Alief Leadership Network Committee meetings which current school board member Natasha Butler, immediate past school board member Tiffany Thomas, and myself all attended together, Superintendent Chambers openly expressed to the entire committee that administrators have the ability to “make data say what they want it to say.” Superintendent Chambers went on to give examples of how data pertaining to students’ academic performances could be manipulated or willfully misconstrued to give a desired implication of results. Superintendent Chambers’ statements about data manipulation have continued to ring true. Data manipulation is a common practice by Alief administrators, and continues to be used today up to and leading into Superintendents Chambers upcoming evaluation scheduled to be completed by Alief ISD school board by May of 2018. One only has to go as far as comparing district produced data from Alief ISD’s website to data reported by TEA to see that Alief ISD, under the leadership of Henry D. Chambers Jr., has willfully and knowingly continued to engage in data manipulation for the 8 years of his tenor with Alief ISD. Not only does this data manipulation contradict Alief ISD school board policies and procedures, TEA policy and procedures, but it is at minimal an unethical practice, especially considering the numerous allegations of moral turpitude concerning Alief ISD administrators, Alief ISD Superintendent Chambers, and Alief ISD’s General Counsel, Attorney Jon Erik Nichols of Roger, Morris and Grover LLP. As a private or public employee I have never heard of an employee, the Superintendent, advising the employer, the School Board, of how he/she will or should be evaluated, and that he/she is going to actively participate in leading the evaluation process, as Superintendent Chamber openly expressed on record during the districts December 12, 2017 school board meeting. Superintendent Henry D. Chambers Jr. went on to openly discuss, during the board meeting, that he was going to invite all Alief ISD board members over to his home to “fatten them up” with a private dinner before the school board signed off to renew his district contract in May of 2018. If Alief ISD’s School Board members are not going to uphold the written policies and procedure of both the district and TEA, and continue to willfully and knowingly fail to uphold their oath of office then they, as well as Superintendent Henry D. Chambers Jr., should voluntarily relinquish their positions, or involuntarily be forced to do so if necessary. Policies and procedures mean nothing, and become oppressive if they are not enforced properly or indiscriminately by those trusted to govern.
