Actualización de la peticiónEdinburgh Council to reinstate "No Dogs in Cemeteries" rule that was in place pre-CovidBreaking The Rules 2024 - Morningside Cemetery - Counter Petition For Longer?

Here is another selfish, entitled dog walker who obviously thinks "the rules don't apply to me" in Morningside Cemetery.

  • Dog off lead
  • No lead
  • Exercising their dog...

This contravenes the 2022 Cemetery Management Rules, and the trial Cemetery Management Rules (yes...this is our and the publics perception of these signs) erected in March this year.

One of our supporters has cleverly spotted that the counter petition states (in its very first paragraph no less) "I have been visiting my family in our local cemetery for over four decades. Throughout these years, a faithful canine companion has often accompanied either myself or myself and other family members."

Prior to the Cemetery Management Rules being updated in 2022, the Cemetery Management Rules Report 2022 https://t.ly/DqleJ states:

POINT 4.7 “the current Cemetery Management Rules prohibit all dogs except assistance/guide dogs”.

Does this mean the author of the counter petition is basically admitting breaking the Cemetery Management Rules for over four decades?

Unless all these "faithful canine companions" were legally recognised, professionally trained assistance dogs, it would appear so...

That is not a good look....

We have 12 days left to persuade Edinburgh Council's Culture & Communities Committee to address this issue of dog walkers using Edinburgh cemeteries as local, walled in, dog exercise yards.
