We DO NOT advocate for a TOTAL BAN on dogs in Edinburgh Cemeteries

…We never have.

Lets keep this update focussed on one point.

From literally Day One, we have been very clear in our campaign. Paul posted the following text on the original I Love Morningside Facebook post in January that sparked this campaign:

"I would not want to stop anyone from visiting a grave. I know how important it is. I have already stated here that I have no problem with dogs accompanying someone to a grave (with dog on a short lead) and assistance dogs. It’s the people taking their dogs into cemeteries to exercise them that I have a problem with”

That message is still there, you can read it today.

We have right at the top of this Change petition the following text:

EXCEPTIONS SHOULD BE MADE FOR DOGS ACCOMPANYING MOURNERS & ASSISTANCE DOGS. THEY MUST HOWEVER BE KEPT ON SHORT LEADS

We are seeking a compromise.

The only people to mention (and keep mentioning) a "total ban" is the counter petition.

Our stance is crystal clear - it has been from the start of our campaign in January - we have reiterated it many times here and on social media - it will be front & centre in our Deputation to Edinburgh Council on 8th August

If you see the words "a total ban" on any social media - Facebook, X (Twitter), Next Door, WhatsApp...anywhere, please use this nice short URL link, to copy and paste into that conversation, that will take you directly to this page.

Let people know.

Thank you,

Paul & Andy
