Yes, folks - as promised, more photographic evidence showing that a section of dog walkers in Edinburgh do not possess the ability to read a sign that is right in front of their face as they enter Morningside Cemetery.
Imagine for a moment, that was your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandparents...or child's grave, that this owner is letting their dog urinate on.
Eight of these signs were erected in Morningside Cemetery at the end of March this year, for a trial period - two of these signs are on the North and South gates, the only two entrances into the cemetery.
They are literally in front of your face as you enter - you cannot fail to see them.
If by some miracle you did, you would surely spot at least one of the six other signs as you were walking your dog around the cemetery.
Not that this seems to matter of course - Paul observed members of the public less than 24 hours after the signs went up, obviously walking their dogs, many with long leads, stopping to read the signs...then going in anyway to exercise their dogs.
"The rules don't apply to me - I will do what I want, I don't care about the feelings of the bereaved"
These new signs and a trial period were agreed by us at a meeting with Bereavement Services in March - the counter petition attended a similar meeting with Bereavement Services later that same week, AFTER OUR MEETING, where they were no doubt informed of the new signs and trial period.
We have also mentioned the new signage and trial period several times in our updates...updates we know the counter petition read.
Here is an example (with lots more photos showing selfish, irresponsible dog walkers blatantly ignoring the new trial signage):
https://www.change.org/p/edinburgh-council-to-reinstate-no-dogs-in-cemeteries-rule-that-was-in-place-pre-covid/u/32525191
For anyone who has been following the two petitions for six months, never mind anyone actually involved in these petitions, to claim that they were not aware of the new signage and trial period of enforcement is frankly ludicrous...
It is even more concerning to hear a "local Councillor" seems unaware of the new signage and trial period. Have they been out of the country since the end of March?
