Hilton Waikoloa Properties Fails to Uphold Hilton’s Community Commitment

The Hilton World Wide website states “At Hilton, our people and business are guided by our vision - to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality.” This is the introduction to the Hilton’s statement of commitment to the Communities where they are located and to the Environment. If they stand by these values, then why is Management turning a “blind-eye” to what is happening at their properties in Waikoloa? Where is the light and warmth of hospitality for the cat communities living on their properties? Why do they not hold the individuals accountable for the tortuous death of the cat communities that were once cared for by their TNRM programs? It is with great sadness that we report that trapping at Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel continues and we are in a stalemate with Management at the HGVC properties. We know that Management of these properties is providing misinformation to the individuals who have contacted them. People are being told that the Hotel is working with local rescues to care for the cats. People are being told that the HGVC properties are working with a local advocacy group to institute TNRM at these properties. Recently volunteers found the feeding stations empty at the Hotel in order to lure hungry cats into the traps that are being set. The current trapping is NOT being done by any of the local rescue organizations. The Hotel management continues to tell patrons they are working with a rescue, but, will not divulge which one. Even to patrons who want to make donations to rescues caring for their cats. The circumstances at the HGVC properties have not changed. A few weeks ago we had hope that we were making some progress. Corporate HGVC management informed owners they were in the beginning stages of setting up a TNR program with local rescues indicating they wanted to reach a positive resolution between local management and the rescue groups. Their stated intent was to bring TNRM programs to the properties. After discussions with each side and a few email exchanges, no further actions have been taken. Responses to inquiries and calls to HGVC Corporate are being redirected to the local manager who implemented the feeding ban at Bay Club, who refused to allow the rescue of sick kitty pictured on the petition, who previously lied to owners and who threatened to fine visitors who fed the cats after he implemented the feeding ban. We think that HGVC Corporate is being disingenuous and sincerely doubt that they will follow through to implement TNRM programs on these properties. They’ve had weeks to answer back to the concerns of owners and invite rescue groups on property to attend to sick cats and sterilize the population and they have failed to do so. Our many thanks to all who have supported this petition and the efforts of those who have made calls or emailed on behalf of our endeavor. Please continue to share this petition because public opinion IS the only way to stop this travesty against these helpless cats. And please KEEP CALLING to speak up for the cats. At the local level Phil Murray of Hilton Grand Vacations and Simon Amos and Tim Owens from the Hotel have the power to make a positive change for the cats and their pet loving patrons.
