Tell Mayor Ed Murray and the Seattle City Council that we need common sense Harm Reduction
The Issue
In the Northwest, the lives of music fans are being threatened by highly adulterated narcotics at festivals. A person may think that they are buying MDA or MDMA like substances, but in fact are being sold far more dangerous chemicals including, but not limited to, PMMA, 4HTA, and Bath Salts.
Every year at Dance Music Northwest we are heartbroken to learn that someone has harmed themselves or even died because they did not make an informed decision about their actions. While personal responsibility lies solely with the person making those decisions, they are far more likely to make the right decision if they have the information to do so. Shambhala Music Festival in Salmo, BC has been the proving ground for harm reduction measures worldwide, having brought down their medical transports to the single digits on average over the past 14 years
We at Dance Music Northwest are calling on our city council and the office of Mayor Ed Murray to to pass legislation that will provide amnesty for pill & powder testing both to the organizations providing the services, and the people using it.
We believe and have evidence that providing these essential services not only reduces drug use, but quite literally saves lives.
