I will never forget the day that park was just whipped from underneath our kids feet!!!! No warning just one minute it was there next minute it was gone. We have attended meeting after meeting, wrote email after email, got pictures and dimensions and layout of the exact park before they took it away. The council agreed to invest 180k into the rebuild, that was until they realised our skatepark was going to be in the way of their nice, new shiny swimming pool!!! To move location meant another 70k on the floor foundations....the exact same floor dimensions that are already there!!!!! 70k out of our 180k budget would have left us with hardly any ramps in the park The council want us to move so now they are putting a bid in for an extra 70k+ . It really didn't need to be like this and we do wonder if the council knew all along the park was a goner, this big all new, singing and dancing swimming pool plans have defo been in the pipeline a while. The council obviously didn't realise what an uproar this would cause to the locals regarding this iconic park. But our petition of 1000's of signatures still stands and we will continue to bring back the return of a once loved sport venue
