Dear friend of Giffnock community,
We are preserving Giffnock. This is because the petition is simple and achievable. I have never seen the community so united; it was about time we took this action. Our community isn't bogged down in apathy or negativity - it's vibrant and positive.
Some are now claiming that there is no threat to the park. I am very happy with that. (One - not a councillor - then changed line shortly after and told me that it will take more than this to save it!). Never mind the inevitable distractions and jealousies though, they can only prevent progress. They will continue too! Blank them. And then focus on the good stuff.
I would like to thank those who have sent kind messages. But please remember, this is not altruism on my part. I live here too and I want the best for my family. I want to see future generations of my family in the park and I want to bore them about my memories in it. I want to tell them about the brilliant 'parkie' who used to run the place with discipline in the 70s and 80s and kept it spotless. I want to tell them what we did to save it in the 20s.
I ask that you do one thing and share the petition with 2 people today or even just put it on your social media.
It can sound glib, but keep safe.
