Dear Supporters,
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has signed our petition so far (almost 2,500 signatures!). Your support means a lot and has been crucial in getting the attention of our representative, Rep. Tran. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the Coffee with the Constituents event last Friday due to work obligations, but I have been informed that Rep. Tran supports our efforts.
However, her recommendation that the working people of East Portland find a replacement business on our own is simply ridiculous. As a community, we do not have the connections or resources to play headhunter and find suitable replacement businesses. It is the job of city and state government officials to find and entice appropriate businesses to invest in our community. We need their support and expertise to make this happen.
Please continue sharing this petition with your friends and family and on social media. Let's make sure that city and state government officials are aware of our efforts and join us in finding a suitable replacement business for the abandoned K-Mart store in East Portland.
Thank you again for your support.
