Dear Warren Farm Nature Reserve supporter,
With fungi flourishing and stonechats chatting in our urban meadow, we have TWO big pieces of COMMUNITY IN ACTION news to share with you in this update today, with plenty more on the way! Let’s jump in!
TOGETHER WE ARE GROWING having now gone OVER 13,000 SIGNATURES! That’s 13,000 voices calling for the protection of our wildflower meadow in its entirety. It is a beyond brilliant achievement and really shows the public strength of feeling, support and hope to safeguard our vital green space from development at a time of Climate Crisis. None of this would have been made possible without YOU!
But it doesn’t stop here!
Over the Summer, Ealing Council held a Public Consultation about the future of Warren Farm NR and, despite the consultation being heavily weighted towards a sports outcome and failing to reference any of the wildlife who call our meadow home, we are delighted to share with you the results which clearly show the overwhelming majority voted in favour of safeguarding our rewilded meadow!
Our community values the REWILDED OPEN SPACE here, AMAZING BIODIVERSITY, the COUNTRYSIDE FEEL, the PEACE AND CALMNESS this large open landscape brings to the urban sprawl and visitors like to use Warren Farm NR to take regular exercise such as jogging and walking whilst enjoying our thriving wildlife. If that all sounds pretty idyllic, that’s because IT IS!
At a time when councils across the country are being asked to increase biodiversity and healthy life expectancy, when Warren Farm meadow is given Local Nature Reserve designation, it will achieve both of these important LIFE GIVING assets for all!
The Public Consultation has clearly shown that this is what people want and as we enter in to further talks with Ealing Council Leader, Peter Mason we are confident that the community’s preferences will be recognised and validated. #WatchThisGreenSpace
