The Issue

A low ping should mean a responsive match. For affected EA SPORTS FC players across Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean, it often doesn’t.

Players in South Africa, Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar, Seychelles and neighbouring countries are reporting recurring ping spikes, delayed inputs and inconsistent gameplay when connecting to South African game data centres.

These problems affect the moments that decide matches: passes register late, tackles miss their timing and players become difficult to control. Competitive results should depend on how we play, with a stable connection we can rely on.

Some affected players report steadier gameplay when using a VPN to connect to other regions, including Lagos and Europe—even with higher latency. This comparison does not establish the cause, but it deserves a proper technical investigation.

We pay for this game and invest time in building our teams. We deserve reliable online gameplay and clear communication when persistent problems prevent it.

We call on Electronic Arts and the EA SPORTS FC team to:

Acknowledge the reports publicly and investigate the stability of matches served by South African game data centres, including server performance, capacity and connectivity with regional internet providers.
Publish findings and a plan for fixes, with a timeline for addressing confirmed problems and regular progress updates.
Work directly with affected players, providing a clear way to submit match timestamps, connection reports and recordings for technical investigation.
Improve connection diagnostics and data-centre options, helping players identify problems and access a more stable alternative where practical.
