E-Fuels sind synthetisch erzeugte flüssige Kraft- und Brennstoffe auf Basis von Wasserstoff und Kohlendioxid (CO2). Sie werden mit Hilfe von erneuerbarem Strom hergestellt. Das Kohlendioxid kann aus der Luft, aus Abfallstoffen biogener Herkunft oder aus Industrieprozessen genutzt werden. So wird bei ihrer Verbrennung kein zusätzliches CO2 frei, sondern nur das, was bei ihrer Herstellung verwendet wurde. E-Fuels sind deshalb klimaneutral.

Im Koalitionsvertrag der Bundesregierung sind E-Fuels enthalten, sie sollen nach derzeitigem Stand allerdings nur für Flugzeuge und Schiffe verwendet werden, nicht für Pkw.

Wir fordern: 

1. CO2-Sofortmaßnahmen im Verkehrssektor: Zulassung fossilfreier und flüssiger Kraftstoffe für alle Fahrzeuge im Straßenverkehr.
2. Diversifizierung der Energieversorgung: Förderung der Herstellung und des Imports von E-Fuels aus vielen verschiedenen Ländern der Welt.
3. Gleichstellung der Antriebe für die Anrechnung als klimaneutral.

Was ist eFUEL-TODAY?

EFUEL-TODAY ist eine Initiative der Mittelständischen Energiewirtschaft Deutschland (MEW e.V.) zur umfassenden Information rund um klimaneutrale flüssige Kraftstoffe. E-fuels are liquid fuels produced synthetically on the basis of hydrogen and carbon dioxide. They are made using electric energy from renewable sources. The carbon dioxide can either be taken directly from the air or from biogenic waste as well as industrial plants. While using an e-fuel in an internal combustion engine no additional carbon dioxide is emitted. The emissions add up to the exact same amount of carbon dioxide that has been chemically bound in the production process of the e-fuel before. That’s why e-fuels are climate neutral.
The coalition agreement between germanys ruling political parties consider e-fuels as an option. However this implies only the use in the aviation and shipping industry - not the automotive.

We demand:

1. Immediate measures to reduce carbon dioxide of the transport sector through the permission of fossil free fuels for all vehicles
2. Diversifying the energy supply by supporting the production and the import of e-fuels from other countries
3. Equalizing all drive types regarding the credit as climate neutral

What is eFUEL-TODAY?

eFUEL-TODAY is a campaign run by the by the association of the MEW e.V. (Middle-class energy industry Germany) with the aim to present innovation as well of its member companies and the complete energy industry. The MEW association consists of four sub associations called the AFM+E e.V. (Foreign Trade Association for Mineral Oil and Energy e.V.), the UTV e.V. (Independent Association of Tank Farms e.V.), the bft e.V. (National Association of Free Gas Stations and Independent Mineral Oil Dealers e.V.) and the FPE e.V. (Fuel Power Energy e.V. - with a focus on the shipping industry).
