Keep Callander driving test centre open

The Callander driving test centre (DTC) will be closing as from May 23rd.

This is going to have a huge impact on the rural area surrounding Callander.

The catchment area for Callander High school (McLaren high) is a large area and I'm sure you can appreciate that it is where the majority of the local driving instructors pupils come from.

It can take as long as a hour for some pupils to get to school. If the Callander centre closes they will need to travel a further 30 minutes, if the roads are clear and quiet, to get to the nearest test centre in Stirling. Meaning a 3 hour round trip, then include the test time and a lesson before that it comes to 5 hours to sit their test.

This closure is going to add cost and time for learners and will disadvantage rural locals who rely on driving.

Local bus service is sparse and local people rely on learning to drive to get to work, be economically active, shop, interact with friends and care for family.
