Dutchess County SPCA, ACT NOW! Animal Cruelty Charges for Upstate NY Hoarder

The Issue

DEMAND ACTION NOW FROM THE DUTCHESS COUNTY SPCA TO FILE CRIMINAL ANIMAL CRUELTY AND NEGLECT CHARGES AGAINST STEVEN MCENANEY

as of February 29th, the "Hunks and Hunnies Animal Sanctuary" hoarding case that I have been warning everyone about since May 2023 has finally culminated, resulting in convicted sex trafficker Steven McEnaney abandoning 150+/- animals upon being incarcerated for the next four months.

exactly as I warned would happen, he made no accommodations for the animals he abandoned, despite knowing he was going to jail since October 2023. multiple animal sanctuaries have had to step in and mitigate the damage, despite previously turning a blind eye to the situation (more on this later). now, as animals are removed from the hoarding site, it is becoming increasingly more apparent just how much abuse and neglect they suffered.

in addition to not having the most basic medical care, proper diet, or adequate shelter, resulting in a plethora of illnesses and injuries, the pigs were completely neglected and left to breed. this has resulted in rampant inbreeding and multiple pregnancy complications. there are now a total of 59 pigs, ranging in ages from 12 wks to 6+ mos at the youngest, nearly all of whom are currently at various staged of pregnancy. one pig was being kept alone in a basement while suffering severe pyometra and receiving no attention besides physical abuse. every pregnant pig was spay/aborted at Cornell University, further adding to Steven's total body count.

there are also 32 goats who were neglected, 7 cows left abandoned, and multiple other animals who are still unaccounted for, including at least 20 cats. the two disabled special needs animals, an alpaca named Lilly and a 25 yrs old mini horse named Lucy, were both completely emaciated, ultimately costing Lucy her life.

the Dutchess County Sheriff have been called to the scene multiple times throughout the removal and relocation of these animals, which is an ongoing effort, but neither they nor the Dutchess County SPCA have filed criminal charges against him as of yet. this is not some random animal hoarding case, this was fraud to the highest degree, and is also being investigated by the Attorney General. Steven pretended to be a sanctuary and put those animals through absolute hell, just so he could make money.

in signing this petition, you are lending your voice to all of the victims in this case who have been completely failed by everybody who should have helped them. please help DEMAND JUSTICE for Lucy, Lilly, and the countless others who have suffered at the hands of people who promised them safety and refuge, only to turn their backs on them when it mattered the most. DEMAND the DCSPCA and Sheriff file charges NOW!
