Anne-Louise Grant started this petition to Durham County Council (Planning Department)

To have Planning Application DM/20/03267/WAS refused by Durham County Council
This application has been submitted to build an energy from waste plant close to the centre of Consett on the Hownsgill Industrial Estate. This site is in close proximity to both older and newer housing estates and we believe that the emissions could be detrimental to the health of the local population. The height of the stack, at 50 metres is in excess of anything else in the town and the plant is being proposed to the west of the town and any emissions will be carried directly over it. The number of jobs being created is very low (only 9 permanent jobs) and therefore of low economic value to the town as a whole. We are asking the council not to approve this application.
