On Friday 2/10 a few of us represented the University (Greenspace, Estates and Buildings, DBUG, Trustpathways) as part of a very productive collaborative workshop on 'Sustainable Transport'. This included listening and engaging in change dialogue with various stakeholders representing different interests across Durham. It was also interesting to hear the ideas from JMP consultants tasked with identifying ways to progress towards accommodating Durham's sometimes conflicting transport needs. That is, the multi-modal types of transport we, the general public require (walk, cycle, bus, train, car) while tempered by the need to ask is this really sustainable in the future? We await the draft copy of the strategy and can confirm that that cycling is very much part of this agenda. An interesting article below too...
