AUG 10, 2019 —

THIS PETITION IS AGAINST THE MANAGER JOE NEWBURN. THE SHELTER STAFF HAVE TO DO WHAT HE SAYS. HE DOES NOT HAVE ANYONE WHO MAKES SURE HIS DAILY DECISIONS THAT IMPACT ANIMALS ARE ETHICAL. HE MAKES HIS OWN RULES AND FORCES THEM TO FOLLOW.

8-8-19....3:45pm.....The Duplin County Animal Shelter has informed us that ALL animals WILL BE euthanized upon their 6th day. There WILL BE NO exceptions. Understand that weekends, holidays and days they are closed ALSO COUNT AS THEIR 6 DAYS! Please continue to share and tag folks on ALL of our animals. PLEASE consider all dogs and cats urgent upon intake. We thank you in advance.

I am trying to get signatures for a petition and I need help from any person who cares about the animals in Duplin County who would be willing to sign it. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESIDE IN DUPLIN COUNTY.  MANY people from surrounding counties adopt from, rescue from, and have donated to the new building for the animals at Duplin County Animal Services and YOU need to STAND UP for these souls that have no way to speak for themselves.  I’m asking you to sign the petition if you believe the shelter should be consistent in their policies (that are board approved, not just decided last minute by the shelter manager), transparent, and that they should be held accountable for their actions (especially euthanasia). Currently, policies are made by the manager without board approval and are sometimes causing healthy, adoptable animals to be euthanized “just because”. I plan to speak at the commissioner’s meeting and would love your support there. I want to present this petition at the meeting. Please share this with EVERYONE that you feel may want to sign the petition. My goal is 500 signatures and I only have a few days to get them. Remember please spread the word so I can reach or surpass  my goal!  I also plan to have paper versions around Duplin County in case people do not have Facebook to be able to see the petition.  I will update the locations as they become available.
