In 2014, Dunkin’ Donuts became the latest top national coffee chain to offer a non-dairy milk, saying it heard thousands of us “loud and clear” as it poured out almond milk nationwide in response to Compassion Over Killing’s campaign. Now, some locations have even committed to an all-vegetarian menu at the request of their kosher communities, offering Morningstar Farms vegetarian sausage and bacon.
Dunkin' also stated this week that it recognizes "the importance of providing alternative choices for people with dietary restrictions" as it dished out a gluten-free brownie nationwide.
Clearly Dunkin’ is catering more and more to the demands of its customers. But it still hasn’t rolled out a vegan donut, even though millions of consumers nationwide are opting for plant-based foods to help the animals who suffer at the hands of the egg and dairy industries, and to protect their health as well as the planet. With these consumer trends increasingly shifting toward plant-based, now’s our chance to tell Dunkin’ what we’re hungry for: a vegan donut!

Dear Dunkin’ Donuts, I’m glad to hear that you’re responding to your consumers and catering to different dietary needs, like by dishing out a gluten-free brownie and transitioning select locations to a vegetarian menu. But the brownie still contains animal ingredients--and there’s still no vegan donut nationwide! Meanwhile, consumer trends are increasingly shifting toward plant-based as a kinder, more sustainable option. Please show your customers that you are truly listening by offering a vegan donut for us to dunk in our dairy-free coffee!
