The email below was sent to Ifza, another supporter who has also contacted DMBC. Since this I have emailed Garry Dean and Kevin O'Keefe suggesting other options such as installing height and/or width restriction measures which would prevent small commercial vehicles from getting into the lane. It's just another option. I have also given my view that 3 CCTV cameras is all that would be needed to cover the whole lane. The main being at high level on the junction of Wynall Lane. Please keep pushing this petition forward, loads of you have shared it so thank you, we just need to gently encourage people.
Thank you for your recent enquiry to Kevin O’Keefe, Chief Executive of Dudley Council, regarding fly tipping in Foxcote Lane, in particular increased levels that are being experienced during the current lockdown period
The Council is currently replacing all CCTV cameras in the borough as part of a Council wide project to both upgrade and renew them. This includes cameras previously used for mobile deployment purposes, although these can only be used where strict data is followed to ensure full compliance with data protection etc. Unfortunately the current COVID lockdown has impacted on this project, however it will be progressed once the lockdown conditions are eased and their future use on hot spot areas will be considered.
I do fully agree with your concerns regarding fly tipping in the lane and the associated cost of removal and my team has visited the site on two occasions this week, Monday and Wednesday to remove fly tipped material following the introduction of temporary road closures. Whilst I understand the lane was clear last night, we will continue to monitor events.
If we are able to obtain details of where the material originates, this can be used to prosecute those responsible and this has been the case for a number of incidents across other areas of the borough. Equally if any information is brought to the attention of local residents, this can further assist in future prosecutions.
As a temporary measure, we have looked at a closure of the lane during the lockdown period, however this would require consideration of available access for affected properties including the local farm. Should matters continue we may however have to consider this as an option which we would discuss in advance with local ward members. During the interim we will however continue to monitor condition of the lane.
