Dear signers,

I write to you today with a fantastic update!

I met the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar ji, along with MP Shri Shankar Lalwani ji and highlighted my request for a dedicated helpline for the deaf citizens of our country. I am extremely grateful to Shankar Lalwani ji, who has been a great source of strength and support, and Virendra Kumar ji for taking out time for us and hearing us out patiently.

During the meeting, we explained to the minister how our emergency helplines like 100, 101, 102 and 1098 cannot be used by the deaf. They need a dedicated helpline with sign interpreters and a text messaging facility to be able to reach out if they are in an emergency. We were also able to submit relevant documents to the minister’s office so that the matter can be looked into.

I am hopeful that in the coming days, I will have more such encouraging updates to share with you.

Friends, I urge you once again to keep sharing this petition with all your contacts so that together, we are able to bring about this much-needed change for the 63 million deaf citizens of our country.

Thank you for standing by me and supporting me in this journey.

With gratitude,
Naina Navlani
