As of 2022 more than 1 million diabetics can not afford insulin. Insulin is a hormone that peoples body's produce order to regulate blood sugar. But unfortunately, people who have the autoimmune disease, diabetes are either unable to produce insulin or are insulin resistant. A common myth that people like to believe is that diabetics eat too much sugar, are overweight, and are not active but, in most cases it is simply because of an autoimmune disease that is simply out of their hands and will not go away. So in order for most diabetics to survive they need to take insulin to help maintain a healthy blood sugar. You might ask yourself, what would happen if diabetics don't take their insulin? Which the answer to that question is the body would break down its own fat and muscle, resulting in weight loss, which can quickly result in a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis which is when your blood stream becomes acidic, you develop dangerous levels of ketones in your blood stream and become severely dehydrated, and if you leave it untreated it leads to death.

         If the cost of insulin proceeds to stay as high as it is currently more diabetics will continue to die. If we do not change and try to drop the price of insulin, we are putting peoples lives on the line. Make the change and sign the petition to save a life!
