Last October 16, 2015, leaders of workers, farmers, women, youth and other basic sectors of society filed Dr. Walden Bello's certificate of candidacy (COC) at the COMELEC in Intramuros. The group marched from two points, Bagumbayan (Luneta) and Anda Circle at 10 in the morning.
Wearing white and red, the leaders are representing Dr. Bello who stated in his email: "I shall return in a few weeks, hopefully with my wife in a better condition, but even before my return, this campaign has already taken off and gained momentum. For I represent not myself, not a party, but a movement for change that is dynamic, irresistible, and inevitable."
White stood for the unstained record of Dr. Bello, according to the leaders, as the professor resigned as Akbayan representative when President Aquino refused to take responsibility over the Mamasapano tragedy, and to fire his officials implicated in DAP.
Red was symbolic of Dr. Bello's and the movement's uncompromising stance for social change, as they seek to promote "electoral insurgency against politics-as-usual, injustice, inequality, and corruption."
