Everyone Has The Right To Take Their Prescribed Medication, Even If Incarcerated!

Everyone Has The Right To Take Their Prescribed Medication, Even If Incarcerated!
The Issue
Our regular doctor prescribes us our medication with full knowledge of what our lives consist of, what other medications we may be taking, etc... We do not get our prescriptions under false pretenses.
We need our medication! it is dangerous to stop taking a prescribed medication suddenly, especially if one has been taking it for many years! To deny us our prescribed medication is not only wrong and unethical, it is also against the law!!
When a person is incarcerated, it is most of the time while it is still being decided if they are even guilty, or innocent, of the crime they are charged with. For the safety of each person, it would make sense to continue giving a prescribed medication if that is what their regular doctor says is best! At least be willing to work with the prescribing doctor, and agree to follow his/her wishes for their own patient. You are playing with people's LIVES and health/safety!! Our lives are not a game to be played with.
We ask that you respect the orders of our regular doctor, and respect the law as well, and give us our prescribed medication when incarcerated in the Santa Cruz County Jail, and have no choice but to be under your care. Even those of us who have never been in jail and never plan on going, we also expect you to obey the law and respect the orders of a patient's/inmate's regular physician. Its not only the right, ethical thing to do, it is also what is expected of you legally.
