Currently at LPS (Lincoln Public Schools), you need parental and district/principal approval to use the bathroom you identify with as a trans student. For people like me, who's parents don't necessarily support trans people, this is a hurdle we cant jump over. Even for the new gender nuetral bathrooms that are being installed, you need a parent to come in and have an interview with the principal. This is dehumanizing, why do they get to decide if our identities are respected at schools? And why does it have to be, and I quote, "agreeable with the parents." 49% of Trans kids do not have supportive parents. What about us?
