Welcome back to all the students, staff, admin, and faculty of SLPS on this first day of school!

The past two years brought incredible challenges to families and schools around the world. Through it all, St. Louis Public Schools did all they could to keep students safe and provide the best education possible. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, the Board of Education managed to change their policy on renaming schools and make a decision to remove the Kennard name.

The school received brand new signs this year, reading only Classical Junior Academy. The next steps are to form a renaming committee composed of various stakeholders, hear from the community, and then choose a new namesake for the building.

Thank you all for the hard work invested in this process. It's still going on: Betty McNeal Wheeler is in the running! The parents at CJA are also eager to get started on choosing a new namesake with the broader committee. Check back here for updates.
