Happy New Year!

2019 is just days away, and we are preparing for a great start to the new year. Please join us on January 17th at the SLPS District Office to present our case to the Special Advisory Board of the St. Louis Public Schools. Since they are the key decision makers, it is time for us to request their support for renaming Kennard CJA to honor Betty Wheeler. 

The SAB meeting begins at 6 pm, and we are requesting that anyone who would like to speak arrive by 5:30 pm to sign in. We would like to coordinate our speaking times in order to present the most effective case to the board. Each person will have no more than 3 minutes to state their case during the public comment session. If you are willing to speak on behalf of this petition, please get in touch with us about your ideas and we will crate a strategy to ensure we hit all points that need to be presented--including personal stories of Betty, why she will make an excellent namesake for CJA, how changing the name is one step in the long process of dismantling systemic racism in the institution of education, further steps that the Alumni group will support, why the broader community should have a voice in this process, and anything else that you think might be relevant.
