Dear Friends, Thank you for all your efforts over the past several days. Your voices are what have made me this petition successful. Yesterday, I communicated with Dr. Bowling. Our conversation was very respectful, but yielded little progress. So far, it seems Olivet is intent on participating in Trump's inauguration. I want to be clear that this effort is not mine or any one person's, all of you deserve a voice in deciding our next steps. Over the next couple days, I want to find a way to efficiently solicit ideas from everyone. I'm hopeful that, regardless of whether Olivet ultimately decides to officially celebrate the President-elect's inauguration, we all will continue to encourage Olivet to more closely follow its own heritage and values. Several have reached out to tell me they called Olivet's Alumni Relations to express their opinion on this issue. Reportedly, these conversations went well and callers were encouraged to tell others that this is a positive way to communicate and that the university takes note.
