The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has submitted three reports highlighting the reasons for high level of contamination of Bellandur and Varthur lakes, among other wa ter bodies. The reports highlight that phosphates are a major cause for pollution. The reports submitted by IISc also suggest that eco-friendly alternatives can be used in the manufacturing detergents. Many countries around the world have already opted for eco friendly detergents.
