Cancel the U of Guelph OAC, Graduate Student Council Pig Roast July 4

Cancel the U of Guelph OAC, Graduate Student Council Pig Roast July 4
The Issue
Supporters of Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary (HEEFS) are appalled the University of Guelph would allow the Ontario Agriculture College’s Graduate Student Council to hold a violent and speciesist Pig Roast at the University of Guelph on July 4 2019.
We the undersigned demand the pig roast be cancelled, and replaced with a plant based BBQ.
Background:
In 2018, a international fund raising campaign was launched by Ether’s Dads, Steve and Derick, to provide a new * $650,000 * scanner for large animals at the University of Guelph Veterinary College. No scanner of this type existed anywhere in Canada, and was required to help diagnose illness in large animals like Esther the Wonder Pig, horses, etc.
As we share this petition, Esther is being cared for at the University of Guelph for various ailments. Yet, this student council at the U of G is shockingly proud to be roasting one of Esther’s family.
“When she needed just such a scanner a few months ago, there wasn’t one in Canada that could be used on an animal of her size. Once the new machine is in place, diagnostic scanning technology will be accessible to Esther and to other large animals.” University of Guelph Press Release
Please acknowledge the very generous and unique donation to the University of Guelph, as well as the sentience of all animals.
