First and foremost, thank you to all who signed this petition.  We did not get the outcome we hoped for - the Health Select Committee (HSC) has chosen to take no action.  It's a bit of a slap in the face - obviously our lives are meaningless to the politicians who are determined to maintain the status quo.

While the HSC has chosen not to listen to over 50,000 of us, it's not the end of the story.  Because of your participation and because you care, the issue of poor cancer care is in the media daily.  Eight more petitions have been presented to Parliament and hearings begin next week.

We haven't gotten the outcome we hoped for, but the awareness that's been raised is a big win.  We've put the politicians on notice and we won't stop until the system is fixed.

A new organisation has been formed - Patient Voice Aotearoa.  It's a collation of cancer and rare disease groups.  Look for it on Facebook and please join.  We have big plans to keep this issue alive and get better health outcomes for the people of New Zealand.
