Charles absolutely adored his sisters, Ellean & Lois. So much so he ensured they were in a photograph with him while in uniform. Originally from San Francisco, Charles enlisted right after turning 18 years old. His first ship was the USS Arizona, and he was on it for less than four months before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Charles is likely one of the 85 sailors who were placed in unknown graves in the Punchbowl Cemetery.
