Parking for Big Island's businesses and downtown historical sites need to be free

Parking for Big Island's businesses and downtown historical sites need to be free

The Issue

With the closing of the farmer's market, the last all of what was free parking available for employees for all businesses downtown has fallen to the ploy of a paid parking business.

Most lots were $3 an hour for years. This year they are $17-25 an hour, true extortion. None of the employees can afford to go to work. Lots need to be available with no fee for locals (Hawaii license).

With these insane rates locals will stop patronizing the downtown area. All of our local businesses need employees to stay open. No parking, no staff, no life downtown.
