The Issue

Dear Beverly residents,

If you live in our thriving downtown, you may notice that our residential streets are facing a parking shortage. Although we want to see our downtown business thrive and welcome visitors, the city must address this ongoing issue for our residents as our downtown continues to grow.

Every concert brings hundreds of cars. The downtown lots offer some spaces, but fill up fast. The MBTA garage is an underutilized option with plenty of spots but it’s a lengthy walk for anyone coming from out of town. Many who live on streets surrounding the Cabot Theater are faced with circling the various blocks anytime there is an event and frequently do not find parking at all near their homes.

Our proposal to the city of Bevery is this: Resident only parking after 5pm along the designated streets highlighted below. We propose an amendment to the parking ordinances to resident-only parking on the streets reflected in the highlighted portions on the map. Visitors can still park in our public lots or find a residential street that is further away from the Cabot. This will lessen the burden on residential streets and give residents space to park.

We are looking to collect signatures in support and present this petition to the city's traffic & parking commission and also to Mayor Cahill. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
Andrea & Kellie
