Tarion’s 2025 Annual Public Meeting was held June 17, 2025. We have posted video clips on some of our social media platforms (e.g., X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram) of homeowner Jenn Moore standing up, in person, confronting the Tarion board chair, Andy Kenins, and members of Tarion’s executive.
Ms. Moore started out by saying that her emails have been ignored "for quite some time". After a brief, but very effective scolding, Tarion’s CEO, Peter Balasubramanian, said that based on what he heard on June 17, 2025, he agreed with Ms. Moore.
Mr. Balasubramanian’s response in that moment on June 17, 2025 was clearly inadequate. At the end of that public confrontation, Ms. Moore asked Mr. Balasubramanian if she was "SOL" (sh*t out of luck). Mr. Balasubramanian's silence, and the look on his face at that point, spoke volumes. (It's all captured on video and posted by CPBH on our other social media platforms - check it out.)
As Ms. Moore said, her emails have been ignored for "quite some time" (and she is at the tail-end of her 4.5 year journey). Mr. Balasubramanian has been the CEO for 5.5 years, and on Tarion’s executive team for much longer. Andy Kenins has been on the Tarion board since 2017.
Why did Mr. Balasubramanian not take appropriate action - based on Jenn Moore's emails - years ago? Why did other executives/management in Tarion not take appropriate action years ago? Why has Mr. Kenins let this go on? (CPBH has written to him several times about various matters - we have never received a response from Mr. Kenins, himself.)
Why did it have to ever get to June 17, 2025's Tarion Annual Public Meeting?
CPBH has now heard from many other still suffering homeowners who were sitting in that room, and watching online, who have expressed their gratitude to Ms. Moore and applauded her courage. CPBH agrees - Bravo, Ms. Moore - and thank you!
The largely “tinkering at the edges” recommendations from Ontario’s Auditor General in 2019, inadequate changes from the Ford Government, and Ministry of PBSD "oversight", clearly have failed to protect Jenn Moore and her family - and so many other Ontario families.
Will that public exchange on June 17, 2025 be enough for the Ontario government to do what Justice Cunningham recommended in 2016 and end Tarion’s monopoly? It should be more than enough. #EndTarionMonopolyNOW
