Coillte Teoranta plan to make permanent changes to the pristine woodland habitat at Lis na Grá, Muff, County Donegal, which is located close to the start / end of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way route.
Coillte Teoranta's planned forest road development (reference Donegal County Council application number 1751674) will destory a highly sensitive section of woodland and will result in an unrecoverable loss of habitat in an area which is home to many native species including, but not limited to the red squirrel, pine martin, long eared bat, Irish hare, jay, great spotted woodpecker, buzzard and raven.
Many generations of local people, visitors and also film crews (BBC & TG4) have enjoyed the stunning natural beauty, unrivalled peace and also the tranquillity which can be found at Lis na Grá.
This development by Coillte Teoranta and it's associated construction and harvesting traffic, also raise concerns for public safety on the Donegal County Council roadway at Lis na Grá, which is a public right of way that is used by visitors, walkers, parents who cycle with children and those who commute to / from local schools and shops in the nearby village of Muff.
The local and wider community object to Coillte Teoranta's plans and are calling on Donegal County Council to refuse planning application number 1751674 as it stands.
The deadline for written objections to Donegal County Council is Friday December 8th 2017 with the offical decision date being January 9th 2018.
