The world is ignoring another 21st century human tragedy taking place in China: The detention, dispersion and the distributed mass killing of about 500,000 Uyghurs originally living in East Turkestan (aka Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region). These 500,000 Uyghurs are separate from the 3+ million Uyghurs currently being locked up in prisons, concentration camps and children camps in East Turkestan.

Bitter Winter, a magazine on religious liberty and human rights in China [1], has published numerous reports about the secret transfer of Uyghur detainees to other Han provinces [2 – 7]. Among them, a Dec. 17, 2018 report says:

“According to sources in Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the provinces of Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Heilongjiang, and others have been assigned quotas of detainees to take. At present, sources have reported that Shaanxi Province in central China was issued a quota of about 25,000 people. An estimated 500,000 Uyghur Muslims will be dispersed and detained throughout China.”

“Sources fear that the information available so far could be just the tip of the iceberg. “

Given below are the partial highlights of some of Bitter Winter’s reports:

•       Officers were forced to sign confidentiality agreements

•       The buses used for transferring the Uyghur detainees had misleading labeling painted on their sides

•       Freight transport trains were used to move the Uyghur detainees from Xinjiang to Han provinces

•       Any part of the transfer vehicles that indicated a place of origin was hidden

•       During transfer, detainees’ heads were covered in black hoods

•       During transfer, roads were guarded by armed police

•       All prisoners arrived at their new homes at night

•       The Uyghur detainees have no idea where they are being held, and their relatives were not informed of their transfer

•       Uyghurs are dying even during the transfer process

•       Most of the Uyghurs dispersed to Han provinces are men

•       Detainees’ living conditions are difficult and traumatizing

•       Local prisoners are allowed to go outside every day for exercise and fresh air, but Uyghurs are not given this privilege

•       They are not allowed to communicate verbally or through gestures

•       Even the people in the surrounding areas of the prisons do not know that these prisons hold Uyghurs

•       During the transport from buses to local prisons, detainees were handcuffed and had leg shackles, and each was escorted by two police officers

•       If the Uyghur prisoners die, nobody outside knows about it

•       The detained are given only one meal per day

•       “Serious criminals” are kept inside special, square-shaped steel bar cages just over one meter tall.  They are unable to stand or fully stretch and are restricted to eating and relieving themselves only inside the cage

•       One insider described that these Uyghurs “are left to perish on their own.”

An important question one may ask here is: Why does the Chinese government want to get rid of these half a million intellectually and/or physically strong Uyghur men from the Uyghur population in East Turkestan? We believe Mr. Dai Xu, a Senior Colonel in the People's Liberation Army Air Force and a professor at China’s National Defense University [8], answered that question the best in one of his lectures given in 2011 at his university [9]:

So-called Rebiya and three types of forces are all stage tools.  So long as the US stations its troops in Afghanistan and Central Asia, these problems do not go away.

-        The biggest danger in Xinjiang is, if one day China and the US start a war with each other, it is possible that the US would quickly arm 300,000 – 500,000 Uyghur people, and let them fight against Chinese troops.

-        If the US provides arms, there is no problem with several hundred thousand Uyghurs organizing themselves to fight against the Chinese army. The US is very close to doing so now. I will report this to the highest-ranking central government officials of our country until convincing them to do something about it.

This means that the Chinese government is currently carrying out distributed mass killings of half a million innocent Uyghurs throughout China just because they think that those Uyghurs may become a military force for the US against the Chinese army.  This is happening right now, in the 21st century, under the watch of the whole world.  But the world is silent about it — as far as we know, not a single western news medium is mentioning this reality in a report to this day.

In the early morning of June 4, 1989, the day on which the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre took place, the Chinese Red Cross estimated that 2,700 people had been killed. But for weeks following the massacre the Chinese government reported through all of their state media outlets that only 3 people died and two of them were military personnel.  The Uyghurs in East Turkestan lost about 10,000 lives during the July 5th Urumchi massacre in 2009 with the well-planned operation of China’s armed police, but the government reported afterwards that a total of 194 people died and 147 of them were Han Chinese.  Western governments and the western media still quote these numbers to this day, almost 10 years after the massacre took place in Urumchi: “A total of 194 people died and 147 of them Han Chinese.” The communist Chinese government spends billions of dollars in their propaganda campaign to hide the truth, to lie to the world, and to deceive the entire international community in everything, small to large, including about what has happened and what is happening to the Uyghur people in East Turkestan. Even about 45 reporters of Bitter Winter got arrested recently in China for revealing the truth to the outside world [10].  Given these facts and conditions, it is wrong for various international communities, western countries and all open societies in the world to use the same reporting standards to China as they do among themselves. Everything China is doing to the Uyghurs in Eastern Turkestan is a top state secret, punishable with death sentence if leaked.  We hope the international community be mindful of this and stop their wrong practice of giving credit to China’s state media propaganda from now on.

Uyghur lives matter, and the communist Chinese government is the number one terrorist regime/group/organization in the world today. Please help us save the lives of the 500,000 innocent Uyghurs detained, dispersed and being killed throughout China by the communist Chinese government.  Your voice is precious to us. Please sign this petition and spread the information above to help the Uyghur people in their struggle against the evil Chinese government.

Thank you!
