Every year we lose more and more animals on this planet to extinction. We lose animals like Rhinos, Elephants and Tigers to poaching. These animal's numbers are dwindling, and we may soon never see these animals ever again. The shameful truth is that even though these exotic and beautiful species are on the endangered species lists, some countries still buy from and support poachers. The biggest of the poacher's supporters is the country of China. China supports poaching because the trade of Species like tigers brings in a massive amount of money. Some products can fetch hundreds of dollars, such as products that come from tigers.

My goal:

My goal is to bring awareness to this horrible and environmentally damaging trade. One of my beliefs is that the President of the United States should use his power to impose sanctions on China. These sanctions should not be lifted until China has shown that it is taking steps to prevent the trade of poached animals.

 As for the United Nations I suggest they use some of their peacekeepers to help park rangers in enforcing anti-poaching laws and to help maintain order in the animal reserves. I believe that it should be a top priority to stop poaching around the world, because these animals are crucial to their habitats. These animals bring in that is crucial to the governments that run the park, the money that is brought in also helps boost the country's economy.

I hope one day that we will be able to help create programs for the locals around the reserves to help them understand just how crucial these animals are. Maybe even create jobs for the locals that involves helping take care of the animal reserves. If programs like these are created then people would not have to take to poaching in order to make money. I understand that these programs are far from being started right now, however I do have hope for the future. It is not to late to make changes.

I started this petition because...
One year when I was 16 I was lucky enough to have the ability to travel to Kenya and Tanzania. While there I was able to see animals in their natural habitats, especially a black rhino. We've already almost totally lost one species of rhino and that was the white rhino. The black rhino population is slowly decaying. Seeing this beautiful creature along with elephants and lions, made me realize that if something is not done then one day I might not get to give my children the opportunity to see these beautiful animals. I hope that is not the case in the future.
