INMATES TO DONATE BLOOD!

The Issue

Petition for adult inmates to donate blood.

Having been made aware of the dire need of blood donations nationally, I, Travis Eugene Williams (a VADOC inmate) am campaigning for national support to allow inmates to be able donate blood to contribute to the dire need of blood donations.

Just because people are incarcerated should not mean they cannot help save lives. Furthermore, consider the nations volume of mass incarceration/ adult population and its overall potential to contribute blood donations nationally. It’s only logical to allow such, especially when inmates are able and willing to donate the needing blood.

If giving the opportunity, the adult inmate population CAN contribute to saving lives via blood donations in facilities of incarceration collectively on a national level can become one of the largest blood drives our nation has seen.

Every facility housing adult inmates/ offenders already has an on-site medical unit and medical staff in which can administer:

1.) the necessary testing to insure potential inmate donors meet the health standards set forth for donors.

2.) and to draw the actual blood from the adult inmate donors.

I hereby petition president Trump, VA governor Ralph Northam, VADOC Director Harold W. Clarke, and other governors and DOC directors nationwide to take action in this matter to allow offenders incarcerated in the United States to donate blood in this covid19 pandemic and there after as a way to allow incarcerated individuals to contribute to saving lives.

I am further calling upon the support and assistance of “American Red Cross”, “Inova Blood donor services”, and people nationwide (& abroad) to sign this petition and get involved in making this request a reality.

My name is Travis Eugene Williams, VADOC inmate number 1185948, and I am incarcerated in the state of VA (USA.)

Let’s save lives! Allow incarcerated adults to donate blood. Who knows, it may be you or a loved one in dire need of blood right now or future reference. I just want to make sure that the needed blood is available... especially to save lives.
