Hello kind supporters
I’m posting an update, a year on from my last and I hope you will understand why I’m posting again.
You may recall my last post was about a mum, Melanie Leahy, fighting to learn the truth about what happened to her son Matthew who passed away in the care of mental health services.
Well Melanie got her Parliamentary Debate - her petition was calling for a Statutory Public Enquiry into the death of her son and others but Melanie didn’t get that outcome despite all of the hard work she put in. Although exhausted after a 8 year battle, she is still fighting on. As a mum, I totally get that, it’s exactly what I would do to – I think every parent would.
Melanie has asked for my help again and I really feel she needs some support so I’m posting this update to see if we can help.
Melanie now has the backing of a law firm working alongside her. To further highlight her campaign, this Wednesday (9 December) she intends to hand a letter into Downing Street and is looking for people who may be prepared to add their signature in support - there's not a lot of time left.
You can sign her letter here Melanie's Letter
You can read the full story of Matthew and many others here What Happened to Matthew?
Melanie has her own change.org petition and it would be great if you might consider adding your support to that too to help it get some traction Melanie's Petition
Thank you for reading and, hopefully, supporting. I couldn’t turn my back on Melanie when she asked for my help, I can hear the heartbreak in her voice and see the pain on her face - losing her son and her 8 year battle for justice (which is still not over) has done this to her and as a mum myself I understand completely what is driving her to keep going until she gets what she needs – a Statutory Public Enquiry – then she might be able to rest.
I hope everyone is doing as okay as they can be in this oddest of years and I’m very grateful to you for reading this update.
