Whilst much more still needs to be done to increase the signature count, I’m delighted to tell you that a lot has happened recently! We've written to Jeremy Hunt asking for a meeting, it's too early to expect a reply but I will keep you posted. Support for the campaign is stepping up and media interest is significant. Last week I took part in several radio interviews with Dr Hilary Jones and Ali Stunt of Pancreatic Cancer Action. Dr Hilary supports the need for Abraxane to remain available and urged listeners to add their names to the campaign so that we can get this in front of Jeremy Hunt. You can listen to one of the radio interviews here https://www.dropbox.com/s/gc4c77oib5fl3wv/02%20BBC%20Humberside%20250915.mp3?oref=e&n=474537512 BBC Look North featured the campaign and also spoke to Paul, a patient in Wales who will receive Abraxane in the near future. Paul spent 30 years of his life in England before moving to Wales and it is absurd to think that just because Paul moved to Wales, he can receive this life extending drug which would no longer be an option for him post 4 November had he remained in England. Thankfully, Paul will receive Abraxane and will not have any further stress added to what he is already dealing with. You can watch the BBC Look North interview here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5Rgq_F2xok Mine and Neil Jeffery’s paths would not have crossed but for pancreatic cancer - we met because pancreatic cancer also took Neil’s dad and we share a desire (along with many other people we have met along the way) to see change for future pancreatic cancer patients – a change that may give some hope, however small. Neil has a piece about Abraxane on the Huffington Post Blog which you can read here http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/neil-jeffery/snatching-hope-from-those_b_8112962.html As you know, my husband died exactly 40 years after his mother – both deaths were from pancreatic cancer and ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE had been made in survival rates in all of that time. How can we possibly build on any progress if progress is halted. Abraxane is the first breakthrough drug for pancreatic cancer in 17 years and from 4 November it is going to be halted in England! Much still needs to be done and we need many, many more names on this petition. I’m truly grateful for your support so far and I would ask if you would please consider sharing the link with your email contacts, on Facebook and Twitter and asking friends and family to do the same so that we can grow the campaign to a level that cannot be ignored. There is a small window of opportunity here to make the Government see that this decision is wrong and unfair and it could make a huge difference to many, many pancreatic cancer patients in the future. Once again, thank you so much for your support and thank you to everyone that took the time to email me - please stick with us and help us get this to 100k+ signatures......we only need a further 18,430 names to hit that milestone and that could easily be achieved with the power of social media! With grateful thanks Maggie
