Don't Replace PBS with Far Right Propaganda PragerU in School Classrooms

Don't Replace PBS with Far Right Propaganda PragerU in School Classrooms
The Issue
For over 50 years, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, PBS, and NPR have been lifelines of free, fact-based education for millions of American children. From “Arthur” to “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” public media has taught generations to read, think critically, and embrace curiosity about the world. These programs undergo rigorous review to ensure they help students learn — and they’ve been proven to work.
But Congress has just voted to strip over $1 billion in federal funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. This means that PBS and NPR — especially in rural and low-income communities — are at risk of losing vital educational programming and teacher resources.
Now Trump wants to replace it with PragerU, a privately funded right-wing media company that openly admits its goal is to “indoctrinate” children.
PragerU’s videos present opinion as fact, whitewash historical injustices, and push a narrow ideological agenda. They have been criticized for downplaying the horrors of slavery, denying climate change, and promoting Islamophobia.
Unlike PBS, their content has never undergone independent studies proving its educational value. Yet the federal government has already partnered with them to produce materials for children — and some states are making their videos “approved” classroom content.
Our kids deserve better than political propaganda dressed up as education. Every child — regardless of where they live or their family’s politics — should have access to trustworthy, unbiased, and academically sound learning resources.
Replacing PBS with PragerU in schools would rob students of balanced, evidence-based education and replace it with materials designed to push one viewpoint while erasing others. This isn’t about “different perspectives” — it’s about whether our children’s classrooms will be grounded in facts or ideology.
We call on Congress and the Department of Education to:
- Reject any effort to replace PBS’s proven educational content with partisan media
- Ensure that all school-approved resources meet rigorous academic and factual standards
America’s children deserve truth, not propaganda. Stand with us to protect public media and keep classrooms free from political indoctrination.
Sign now to defend PBS, protect our children’s education, and keep learning rooted in fact.
