Dear Petition Signers,
It was with great sadness that I write to inform you that the North Carolina state legislature voted to override the Governor's veto. House Bill 405 is now law in North Carolina.
Thank you for your dedication on this campaign. You all fought a good fight, and we can take comfort in knowing that we did our part.
Ultimately, there will be a time that someone is tried under this law, and I am optimistic that once it makes its way up to the Supreme Court, this law will be found unconstitutional.
Until then, what can we do? There are several steps you can take. If you live in North Carolina, please visit http://www.ncleg.net/gascripts/BillLookUp/BillLookUp.pl?Session=2015&BillID=h405. There, you can see how representatives and senators voted on the override. If your representative or senator voted "aye" for an override, you can write them or write a Letter to the Editor about your disappointment. With that, if your representative or senator voted "no," please be sure to thank them for their support: they faced significant opposition to stand against this bill.
Also, you can make a vote with your mouth and wallet every time you eat. Choose food, brands, and restaurants that represent your values.
Again, thank you all. It has a pleasure working with you, and I am grateful to each of you for your time and energy.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Rosenfeld
