Torrance City Council vote FAILS 4-3

In a meeting that lasted until 12:30 AM, the resolution to phase out MHF at the Torrance refinery failed on a 4 to 3 vote. My parents- 80 and 75 years young sat thru the 6 hour meeting- refusing to leave. They're quote: We really DO NOT LIKE THE MAYOR. Of the 8,000+ people who've signed this petition, they received only a few hundred emails supporting the ban. Worried about the risk of MHF to your loved ones? Then DO something. ACT. It is a big refinery, a powerful oil industry and they currently have a greater influence on the Torrance City Council than you do. All this despite the fact that THERE HAVE BEEN 97 INCIDENTS at the refinery since last June. (see Daily Breeze article) The city council is still working on another resolution.
