Over 2100 of us live in Torrance. The last Torrance City Council election was decided by just 765 votes. Over 4000 of us live in State Assembly District #66. That election was decided by just 706 votes. 4200 live in State Senate District #35. 13 people have stepped forward and want to represent us. When it comes to MHF/HF WHO WILL GET THE JOB DONE? Although he served on the committee to review AB 1759 (the assembly bill to replace MHF/HF introduced Feb, 2016) he said the bill would not pass the full legislature in it's current form. Though the issue was personally important to him (he lives a few hundred yards from the refinery) he didn't offer ways to fix the bill or keep it alive. In his words, nothing could be done for the next year. According to AB 1759's sponsoring office, ExxonMobil threatened to close the Torrance Refinery if the bill was passed.
