🔔 There’s been an important development in the effort to save Camp 30.
Kaitlin Corporation, which owns the remaining Camp 30 lands and five heritage buildings, has offered to transfer them to the Municipality of Clarington — including the Triple Dormitory block and the lands within the Ring Road. The Cafeteria Building is already municipally owned.
If accepted, this would mean the entire Camp 30 site — all heritage structures, trails, and open-space lands — could come under public ownership. Kaitlin has also offered to contribute the equivalent value of the demolition costs toward restoration if Clarington chooses preservation, or to support commemoration efforts if demolition occurs.
This is a pivotal moment — but the Cafeteria Building’s fate will be decided by Clarington Council on October 20.
➡️ The October 20 Council meeting is open to the public — if you can, join us in person. There’s strength in numbers, and every voice helps show that history matters.
Please keep sharing and signing the petition to show Council that Canadians believe Camp 30 deserves to be preserved as a place for learning, culture, tourism, and community building. 🇨🇦
Thank you!
