According to a 2023 survey by the American Pet Products Association (APPA), approximately 70% of U.S. households own a pet, and 95% of pet owners consider their pets to be part of the family. This statistic reflects the deep emotional bonds that people have with their pets, reinforcing the argument that pets should be legally recognized as more than just property. Yet the law still views them as property across all 50 states. This discrepancy is not just a legal issue—it’s a moral one. By supporting this petition, you are not only helping ——- but you are also advocating for a much-needed change in the way our legal system values our furry family members.
