Do NOT separate Year 12 Graduation

The issue

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DONATE

Mildura Senior College is choosing to separate the year 12 students for their graduation as the venue they have chosen (Mildura Sporting Precinct), while it is big, does not have enough ventilation for the whole class of 2024 to be together.

These students have waited their whole lives to graduate, shouldn't they graduate with everyone? Especially their friends? Graduation is the opportunity to celebrate together as a year group to congratulate each other for completing year 12. If the graduation is broken up into two sessions, some students may not be able to graduate with who they are closest to, as the school most likely will be separating according to pathways groups. Its not only the students who are impacted by this separation, its the parents and guardians. Parents won't get to watch their child enjoy their graduation to the fullest because of this.

There are many ways to resolve the issue of not being able to have one graduation with the whole cohort, and that is to find a different venue. We could have the graduation on the courts inside the precinct, we could have it on the oval where the Kings of Leon concert was held (there were many more people there than there are year 12 students) just hire a stage! Have it where we have always had it before, at St Joes! Surely the school is capable of finding a venue where they don't have to split up the students?

Splitting up these kids is unfair and ridiculous. There are other ways of resolving the issue than by separating the students into two groups and having two different graduations. While they may be able to invite more people (it has gone from 2 up to 4), don't you think celebrating themselves and their friends is more important?

Don't split the kids up. Find another way.

Add a reason to why you have signed this with your name and who you are (parent, student etc)
